Dear Melissa Kane,
This letter is to follow up on the presentation you gave to our class here at Transylvania University, and to discuss our understanding of the objectives for the promotional video on the poverty simulation that our class and the CAC will be hosting in October. Our group is excited to be helping to spread awareness of such an important and misunderstood subject as the vicious cycle of poverty. As our group understands, we will be creating a promotional video targeting the 18-35 year old age group in order to show the purpose of the simulation and give a view into living in poverty.
Project Objectives:
This video will be accessible, but specifically target those in the 18-35 age range. We believe that the most effective video would be a raw and genuine documentation of the event, with real reactions from the students, faculty, and workers that shows the way they gained perspective from the simulation, and how that perspective differed from their previously existing one. It will contain pictures, interviews, and video clips of different parts/steps of the simulation. The final product will feature a variety of perspectives, in order to properly show how a simulation will benefit and serve all of those involved. Ultimately, we hope that our video will be engaging to young people and give a view into the general purpose and value of a Poverty Simulation.
What we need from you:
A mission statement of the event directly from Transylvania or the CAC, in order to properly understand what we should be conveying as the purpose of the event itself.
Full access to the event, both in information and participants to interview and follow throughout the day.
Any statistics you have on the CAC, the beneficial work they are doing, the benefits a Poverty Simulation comes with, and poverty around the Lexington Community.
Any technology and programs the CAC has obtained that could help with footage and documentation.
Along with this, we would probably like to have one to two meetings prior to the event in order to clarify different things timeline-wise and how the actual event will go. It would be a good idea for all of us to stay in contact and begin to think on a couple of things:
A timeline for future meetings
A date after the event that you would like for us to have the final product complete.
A prefered length you have for the video in order to give us an idea of how much footage we should plan to have and a deeper understanding of where we can take the video.
In order to move the process along, we have given you all of our contact information down below, and will be open to your response the moment you get the chance. We are all very excited to move forward with the project and to be involved with the CAC and their vision. We sincerely thank you for the opportunity and look forward to hearing from you in the weeks to come.
Sincerely,
Joey Howard
